Verbal and Quantitative sections are each scored 130โ170 in 1-point increments. Analytical Writing is scored 0โ6 in half-point increments. Most competitive programs look for 155+ in each section.

How long is the GRE?
The GRE General Test takes about 1 hour and 58 minutes. It includes one Analytical Writing section, two Verbal Reasoning sections, and two Quantitative Reasoning sections.
How many times can I take the GRE?
You can take the GRE once every 21 days, up to 5 times within any continuous rolling 12-month period. ETS ScoreSelect lets you choose which scores to send to schools.
How long are GRE scores valid?
GRE scores are valid for 5 years after your test date. Most graduate programs accept scores within this window.
